You told us this option interests you, so here is the walkthrough. It reflects Amazon's published terms as at October 2026; enrolment terms and costs live on Amazon's own pages and can change. This is practical guidance, not legal advice.
What it is: Amazon Transparency puts a unique serialised code on every unit you manufacture. Amazon checks codes on enrolled products before units ship, and buyers can scan the code to confirm the unit came from you. It works at the unit level, so it protects the stock itself rather than the listing page.
Whether you qualify: you need a Brand Registry account where you hold the rights owner role, an active registered trademark, and a standard barcode number (a GTIN, such as an EAN or UPC) for each product you want to enrol. You also need to be able to add a code to every unit you make, wherever those units are sold, not just the ones bound for Amazon.
Step one: log in to the Transparency portal with your Brand Registry credentials and enrol the brand and the products.
Step two: choose how codes are issued. Amazon can issue code labels, the codes can be printed into your packaging design, or your existing serial codes can be connected if they meet Amazon's format rules.
Step three: apply a code to every unit. This is the real commitment: a labelling step in your manufacturing or packing flow from now on.
Step four: Amazon reviews labelling accuracy once you start, and protections switch on when accuracy reaches the bar Amazon publishes (98 percent at the time of writing).
What it costs: on Amazon's current published terms there is no enrolment or subscription fee; Amazon charges per code, with volume discounts. The operational cost of the labelling step is usually the larger number.
When it is not the right tool: if unit volumes are high and margins are thin, the per-unit cost and the labelling step can outweigh the benefit. And it does not stop anyone lawfully reselling genuine coded stock; it stops units that fail the code check.
